For the past 28 days, Senator Lautenberg has refused to respond to Rob's debate challenge. For 28 days, Lautenberg has hid behind staff, ignoring 11 different debate proposals. For 28 days, Senator Lautenberg sent New Jersey voters a clear message -- you don't really matter.

And now even his hometown newspaper - The Bergen Record - is calling him out and demanding debates.

Here's some of what Al Doblin, columnist at The Record wrote:

Trying to get Sen. Frank Lautenberg to agree to a debate is like using a dial-up Internet connection. You get connected fast enough, but waiting for a response from the server takes a very long time....

With a month to go before the primary, time is running out. No one is getting younger, certainly not 84-year-old Lautenberg...

If the Senate convened on ski slopes, debating skills wouldn't matter....But debating skills are important in the Senate...

The longer Team Lautenberg stalls, the more likely that Lautenberg will either pass completely on debating or try to offer a one-size-fits-all debate. That would be just another slap in the face to Jersey Democrats...

No one is entitled to a seat in the Senate. There are 100 senators, and every single one of them should have to prove his or her worth for that seat...

This is 2008. Dial-up is passé. New Jerseyans have a right to expect a high-speed connection. No more stalling, senator. It's time to debate.

Senator Lautenberg has ignored this debate challenge for the past 24 days...but the pressure is rising and, with your help, NJ will get the debates that we deserve.
